Orientation typically refers to the initial welcome and introduction to the company, covering basic information like policies, procedures, and benefits. Onboarding is a more comprehensive and ongoing process that focuses on integrating new hires into the company culture, providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed, and setting clear expectations for their role. 


The ideal length of an onboarding program varies depending on the role's complexity, the company's size, and the new hire's specific needs. However, onboarding should be considered an ongoing process beyond the first few days or weeks. Regular check-ins, feedback sessions, and development opportunities should be provided throughout the first year to ensure new hires feel supported and engaged.
